How to Move Data from one iPhone to another iPhone

To move data from one iPhone to another, you can use several methods provided by Apple:

  1. Quick Start (Automatic Setup):

    • Turn on both iPhones and place them near each other.
    • On your new iPhone, you'll see a prompt asking if you want to use your Apple ID to set up your new iPhone. Tap "Continue".
    • Use your current iPhone to scan the animation on your new iPhone.
    • Follow the instructions to set up Face ID or Touch ID on your new iPhone.
    • Choose whether to restore apps, data, and settings from your most recent iCloud backup, or update your backup and then restore. Or you can choose to transfer data directly from your old iPhone using iCloud or a cable.
  2. iCloud Backup:

    • Make sure you have a recent iCloud backup of your old iPhone.
    • On your new iPhone, go through the setup process until you reach the "Apps & Data" screen.
    • Choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and sign in to your iCloud account.
    • Select the backup you want to restore from and wait for the process to complete.
  3. iTunes or Finder Backup:

    • Connect your old iPhone to your computer and open iTunes (on macOS Catalina and later, use Finder).
    • Select your iPhone when it appears in iTunes or Finder.
    • Choose "Back Up Now" to create a backup of your old iPhone.
    • After the backup is complete, disconnect your old iPhone and connect your new iPhone.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your new iPhone, then select "Restore from iTunes Backup" and choose the backup you just created.
  4. Quick Manual Methods:

    • For certain types of data, like photos, videos, and contacts, you can use built-in iOS features to transfer them manually. For example, you can use AirDrop to transfer photos and videos, and you can use the "Share" option to send contacts via Messages or email.

Remember to also transfer other important data like apps, messages, settings, and passwords. After setting up your new iPhone, it's a good idea to double-check that all your data transferred successfully and that everything is working as expected.
